WORLD FAIR TRADE DAY

Remember the HK FAIR TRADE Fair
at Li Hall, St John’s,
on the 2nd Saturday in May 2007,
the World Fair Trade Day?

Here are some pictures supplied by HK Oxfam,
taken by Alfons Poon, among others?

Enjoy!

For better circulation
For more strength
For a poor flu-ed eBay seller
To wish him better cheeeeee (qi 氣 )

Discovery at HHH

I didn’t realise I once knew Hayden,
Till I met him again,
On our ‘market day’,
At Haven of Hope Hospital.

In the corridor he turned back and asked
Me at our Fair Trade Healthy Food stand.
‘Have you once been a teacher?’
‘Why yes,’ I answered in surprise.

I was teaching girls all along,
And boys but briefly as a sub.
So it must have been at Jubilee,
Where idealism in me was boiling …

Can’t imagine having told him,
The second movement sounded even better.
I no longer recall the piece today.
I only remember his smiling face.

Yes, a quiet boy with a gentle smile,
A philosopher-looking teenager,
Some thirty years ago,
A consultant doctor today.

DOWN & UP

Just as I was feeling a little down
Weighed down
By that cough that chooses to linger
By cold shoulders shown to Fair Trade
By red figures on rainy market days
By shipments that came in wayward ways
What should have come by boat had flown in
And what should have flown in arrived late
By bulk customers’ orders that have gone astray
By products which I have ordered too many
By eternal groans from my partner: he is tired
By caring hearts which question: what pains what gains

Just as I …
And your uplifting email arrived

Thank you dear SPFTC

Maybe my role lies not in selling the few packets
Maybe my role lies in seeing that your cries are heard

Selling Salt & Rice at HH Hospital

salt-rice_g.jpg

Yes, we’ll be selling at HH Hospital.
No, HH stands not for Hamburg,
But for Haven of Hope in Hong Kong.

Got to know that we could sell there,
When desperately at a loss,
Right after dear Aunt had passed away.

And met this ultra-friendly social worker P,
Who spent her after-working hours
To discuss with me fair-and-healthy foods.

And so I got to know about this place,
A place I trust when Aunt was still alive,
A sanctuary for grieving over her and selling goodies alike.

Yes, we’ll be selling our goodies at Haven of Hope on June 5th,
Among which, new arrivals:

Natural Sea Salt & Red, Pink, Purple Rice
